Previously, in Part 1 of 2 of Kellan Fluckiger’s near-death experience, after returning from a Baltic Sea cruise, Kellan became gravely ill with a severe infection. His heart stopped, and doctors rushed to revive him as he slipped into a 17-day coma. During the experience, he found himself in a gray room standing at a doorway separating gray from white, where a powerful being asked him a life-changing question: “Do you want to come Home?” Kellan chose to stay, and the conversation turned to his mission and the work he still had to do. Then the experience suddenly intensified.
That’s the closest thing that I can describe: I had a trip, a visual and physical trip through a lot longer than that scene that was like being fed with a fire hose, seeing things. I felt like if I hadn’t been in some kind of a protective bubble, I would have been incinerated. The intensity, the quantity of both information and Light and glory and all of that thing was completely overwhelming and orders of magnitude beyond that. Like I literally felt protected, or I would have been just burned to a crisp. And at the end of that, I had four clear principles that were in my mind. And they’re things that we’ve all heard, but I knew them in a way that I couldn’t have ever stated like I do now. So the first one is that we’re all intentional Divine beings. We were created. There was intention. There are no accidents. We’re here. All that is absolutely true. Number two was that every one of us was very intentionally and specifically given gifts and talents when we came here. Number three was not only were we given a mission and purpose for our life here, but we agreed to it, and we were stoked about it before we came. And the fourth one was that all the help we need is available from both sides of that door.
After receiving these four principles, Kellan asked a question.
I said, “OK, since that’s true,” and in normal conversation you might say, “Well, if that’s true,” but there you don’t say “if.” So I said, “Since that’s true, why do we settle for crumbs?” And I don’t know if in the economy of Heaven brevity is a virtue, but the answer was four words. “Because you don’t believe.” “What can I do to help? Like what can I do about that?” “Oh, glad you asked.”
What followed was a complete framework for changing limiting beliefs— the beliefs, definitions, experiences, expectations, and perceptions that form what Kellan calls a “context straight jacket.” On the third day at the door, buzzing with excitement and repeating everything he had learned, Kellan received one final, sobering question.
He looked at me, and he said, “Are you sure?” And I felt like I’d been punched in the stomach. I was hyperventilating, almost. Like what do you mean, am I sure? Am I like stupid? Am I biting off more than I can chew? Am I missing something here? What? Am I sure? And I wasn’t being glib like that, but that’s how I felt. So we talked about it, and I thought about it from every possible angle. Am I being stupid? Have I missed something? Can I really do this? What? And I came back to that fourth principle the day before, all the help you need is available from both sides of the door. So eventually, after we talked for a while, I finally said, “I’m sure.” OK. And nothing was said, but the conversation ended with a finality that I knew we were done.
Two weeks later, Kellan emerged from the coma. The disease had been so severe that he had lost almost 16 kilograms, couldn’t walk, and had to relearn basic functions. But what stayed with him most was not the physical ordeal— it was the nature of his encounter with the being in the doorway.
It was clearly a person. It had intense power and glory around it, but it was enshrouded in softness. The thing is, I was raised in a religious fanatic sort of abusive home, which is why the beginning of all the depression that got me to where I got the years before that. And I’d always been frightened at the idea of my horrific, awful, useless, etc., etc., self meeting the Divine in all of my weakness and failing. And I didn’t think about it at the time, but one of the most notable things about the whole experience was the complete absence of all that. It was completely embracing, like I wouldn’t have said nothing you ever did mattered. But it just wasn’t the point. None of that was the point. The point was where we are here now. We were having a conversation on two sides of a door, which was clearly the door to eternity. (NDE Diary)
